Become A Foster Parent

Our Foster Care Program

Evergreen’s Community Services program is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Metro Boston and North Shore areas for over 40 years. We provide foster care and therapeutic services to families and children in need of assistance. Our programs connect families to appropriate community resources, while providing support, stability, and hope to families and children.

Who We Support

Many of the children who are in our foster care program have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect and require a home who is willing to face the behavioral and emotional challenges associated with these circumstances with patience, guidance, and nurturance.

Children referred by the Department of Children and Families (ages birth – 18), including individuals with developmental disabilities (ages birth – 22) can be considered for our Foster Care program.

Become A Foster Care Parent

You Can Make A Difference

We are always in need of loving and caring families who are willing to provide children with a safe and stable home environment. If you’re looking to make an impact in the life of a child, then fostering might be right for you.

Foster parents provide a safe, stable place for children to live during an uncertain time, when they aren’t being cared for by their birth families, but also haven’t been adopted. In this way, foster families provide care, stability, and a nurturing home for children when they need it most.

Foster parents play an important role in the relationship between a child from foster care and their birth parents. This can sometimes be a difficult situation, but it is often beneficial for children from foster care to have contact with their birth families—especially since they might be reunited one day. Foster families help maintain this relationship and provide input for determining what is in the best interest of the child.

Foster parents take on all of the important responsibilities of raising the child—like cooking meals, helping with homework, buying clothes and toys, playing with them, disciplining them, addressing any behavioral issues, and teaching them the life skills they need.
